FAQ

The Berglodge Goms is classified as a “Design & Lifestyle Hotel”. What does that mean?
The Berglodge Goms is a design and lifestyle hotel because the business is based on an overall concept that is consistently implemented and finds its expression both in the design, in the architecture but also in the quality of the services. As a design and lifestyle hotel, the Berglodge Goms also meets the strict criteria for classification as a boutique hotel. These hotels impress with their individual character and offer guests a symbiosis of functionality and aesthetics. More information at Hotellerie Suisse and Switzerland Tourism.

Following the example of regional architecture, we have constructed a compact and simple building as a log structure. In this way, we want to make a contribution to the building culture and to the further development of the historic building stock. The wood used (larch and spruce) comes exclusively from Switzerland, or rather 80% of it from the Valais. We have deliberately kept the design of the house reduced. The entire construction is made of untreated solid wood. The colour and material concept in the interior results in an interplay of subtle natural tones, inspired by the forest, natural meadows and snow, and together with different nuances of the woods creates a harmonious overall picture. The everlasting scent of wood and the warmth radiated by wood intensify the spatial effect and allow the building to be experienced with all the senses. Berglodge Goms “genuine through and through”!

The lodge is located in the immediate vicinity of Münster railway station. This makes travelling by public transport very convenient. Of course you can also come to us by car and perhaps enjoy a nice drive over the Furka, Grimsel or Nufenen passes.

We think that an intact nature and biodiversity are the basis of existence for people. With this in mind, we have paid very close attention to sustainability in the planning and construction of the Berglodge. The Berglodge Goms was built entirely as a traditional log structure from solid wood. Around 80% of the wood used comes from the Upper Valais and the remaining 20% from the Bernese Oberland. The building materials used are free of harmful substances and pose no health risks. We produce around 85% of our annual electricity requirements ourselves with our photovoltaic system. Thanks to the very compact construction and the insulation thicknesses, the thermal energy consumption is relatively low. Our large garden is laid out according to the principles of permaculture and we cultivate it very extensively. Some of the products used in the kitchen come from our own garden or, if possible, from the region.

Cross-country skiing: The Berglodge Goms or its hosts are also hosts on the cross-country trail. As federally certified snow sports instructors FA, we offer professional cross-country skiing lessons. It is also possible to rent cross-country skis directly from us. In our in-house yoga studio “Yoga Goms” Michèle offers regular yoga lessons for locals and hotel or holiday guests. The lesson times are published on our website. We look forward to your registration.

Even during the snow-free period, we usually offer yoga lessons twice a week in our in-house yoga studio “Yoga Goms”. Everyone is welcome. Under the heading “Offers” you will find a variety of interesting offers such as courses, events, retreats, etc.

Goms is one of the best cross-country skiing areas in Central Europe and is particularly snow-sure. There are up to 100 kilometres of perfectly groomed cross-country trails. The cross-country season lasts from mid-November to the beginning of April. For long walks, there are about 65 kilometres of prepared winter hiking trails. If you like to explore the landscape on snowshoes, there are many marked trails with different levels of difficulty. The surrounding mountains also invite you for high alpine ski tours that are guaranteed to be unforgettable. For alpine skiing, the Aletsch Arena is the best choice and can be reached quickly by public transport.

The network of hiking trails in Goms is almost endless and very varied. Again and again you will discover new things and experience a largely intact natural landscape with a high level of biodiversity. You can also experience the Goms with its numerous side valleys on lonely trails by mountain bike. The region offers excellent opportunities for mountain tours. The nearby Geschinersee lake invites you to relax and cool off. A round with the Stand Up Paddle board challenges your balance.

Both in winter and in summer, the Goms offers numerous museum visits. For those interested in culture and architecture, a tour of the extremely beautiful villages with the typical Valais knitted buildings, many of which date back to the Middle Ages, is worthwhile.
