Sustainability is close to our hearts

As hosts in Valais, we take responsibility for nature, the environment, our region and our guests. We continually work to reduce our environmental footprint and make our operations more sustainable.

We are delighted to have been certified at Level 2 – Engaged within the Swisstainable programme. This recognition reflects our commitment to sustainable development, from resource-efficient processes to long-term business decisions.

We have also been recognised as a “Marke Wallis” company. This highlights our strong ties to the region and our commitment to local quality.

What we do

  • Environmentally conscious and sustainable construction
Berglodge Goms was built using traditional log construction and locally sourced solid timber. The larch and spruce wood comes from the Goms region, is untreated and contains no chemical additives. Completed in 2021, the new building offers a contemporary interpretation of the region’s traditional log architecture and contributes to the evolving character of the alpine village. Great care was also taken to use natural and environmentally friendly materials throughout the interior. All construction work was entrusted to local businesses.
  • Use of regional and seasonal products
When catering for our guests, we carefully select products sourced locally within a radius of approximately 10 km, or regionally from the canton of Valais or Central Switzerland. By seasonal, we mean fruit and vegetables harvested at their natural time of year and grown locally. In summer and autumn, the Berglodge Goms vegetable garden also provides some of our ingredients.
  • Collaboration with local producers and suppliers
Berglodge Goms buys bread, cheese, vegetables and pasta from local or Swiss producers. Where this is not possible, we purchase from wholesalers such as Biofarm Genossenschaft and Prodega, while continuing to prioritise products made in Switzerland.
  • Careful use of water, energy and resources
The hotel garden was designed according to permaculture principles.
  • Waste reduction and consistent recycling
  • Promotion of sustainable mobility for guests and staff

Further information about our suppliers and the products we offer will be available soon.
